I want aus where they reunite earlier in canon or where she's involved in taking trent down again in blumenthal. I want everything from exploring resentments to potential healing to wildly conflicted sex and affection between exes who don't quite know what they'll do with each other but share a bond that shaped them dramatically, one that no one but these three can fully understand. I also want to dig into how she and eadwulf dealt with the loss of bren (and the return of caleb), how they may have learned the full truth about trent's manipulations, what their relationship was like "offscreen" and the depth of their trust in each other and what harrowing adventures they had on their own. absolutely down for three-way threads (and actual threesomes) if both characters can be found.

some things I enjoy, just hoping to attract others into the same things: enemies to lovers, difficult emotionally-challenged people falling in love despite themselves, mutual codependence, conflicted romance, us-against-the-world dynamics, battle couple tropes, characters thinking they can handle casual sex and absolutely failing to avoid feelings, fake relationships complicated by real feelings, character-driven smut. smut-wise my interests range from vanilla to monsterfucking, dubcon always fine but not interested in noncon, and while I tend to play characters who prefer a certain level of control and love it about them I deeply appreciate opportunities to let them be sexually versatile/challenge their sensibilities.

Okay but to be a little more specific/give you something to go on: I love how complicated these two's relationship is. I love the mix of love and aggravation, fear and anger, disapproval and support, how they're willing to die for each other and kill each other by turns. But the love is still so, so there.

I especially love canon-typical shenanigans, that mix of humor and horror, the weird folklore... I'd also really enjoy some canon divergent AU stuff, up to and including fix-it for the ending.

It's not at all necessary, but I am open to kissing and even smut with these two, even with Kate being aroace. I feel like whatever it is they have going on is something unique to them and very weird even for them, not even just "an exception" but like... that on steroids.

(Also not at all necessary, but I am totally open to making this an F/F ship if you wanted to play Beau as the woman with the skull cup. A+++ would be down for that.)

preferences/notes: This is SUCH a long shot, I know, but! I have a craving!

Obviously these two have never met but I feel like they could hit it off in a very weird way. In some ways they seem kinda opposites-attract, with a lot about Ragdoll making Music Meister seem absolutely normal in comparison, and Doll definitely having more of a body count, but I actually think these two have some things in common that they could potentially bond over early on! They're both into performance and theatricality, and Ragdoll canonically does love music, and is very friendly and cheerful. Doll is also a contortionist who loves showing that off (and is a castrato who might have an interesting singing voice), and if hypnotized into any performance I think they'd really have fun with it, enjoy themself, and not mind at all after the fact.

It could be really fun to play something where these two meet during a crime one or both is pulling off (maybe Meister accidentally interrupts the Secret Six with a crime he wants to do and oops it's musical theater time you have no choice), or a scenario where they're both on the same team (maybe we could make our own Secret Six team with various villains we both like?), or even just something where they meet in Arkham or meet through a mutual acquaintance.

Or honestly I'm open to whatever ideas you might have as well! I just badly want these two in my life.

i can go into greater detail in a DM, though it's still a bit rough but either:

- true culprit au: basically haru is/was the real black mask culprit this whole time. planned to kill okumura, but the PTs complicated things so she had them take the fall.

- accomplice au: yaldabaoth adds a secondary obstacle (granting haru power) cause the trickster's rehabilitation is going a bit too well. exploited in her own moments of desperation by akechi to frame the PTs. this one also has potential to go really Bad cause lmao akechi.

Sooo having seen the first season, I've been pondering offering an AU thing with Hiroe (being a young lady of high station herself) as her lady-in-waiting and confidant since they're both very Mask Wearing, each in her own way. Could involve Shisui just knowing Hiroe's good at keeping secrets, or she could know Hiroe's secret as well somehow or other. I'm always open to other ideas, of course, if you've got another direction you'd be interested in taking it, tho I haven't managed to watch s2 yet so I'm not much use with anything from there... orz

Oh that would be really fun, I haven't gotten to play that side of her much! Shisui in s1 has. so many issues. She is going to be speaking about none of them <3. But having a confidant who isn't going to rat her out would genuinely be immensely helpful for her. Honestly torn about whether or not she knows about Hiroe's secret because on one hand, if Hiroe is willing to help Shisui out with her plan, then the degree of her internal conflict would lessen significantly, especially if she knows Hiroe will be safe and she won't have to involve anyone else. However, the depth of her internal conflict....how about the best of both worlds and have a reveal happen somewhere along the line? Maybe around season 1's end. What reason do you want Hiroe to have to be Shisui's lady in waiting? Like, is it for a specific reason such as they're prior friends or just generally? Shisui probably won't reveal anything unless she's known Hiroe for a while, but playing that out would be fun on its own too.

Oh, how'd you find season 1 by the way? I could get more detailed with where to go with this, but that would involve heavy season 2 spoilers pertaining to Shisui if you're okay with that? I can be really vague if its not, though a lot of Shisui's character relies heavily on season 2 revelations and events.

I could see a few possibilities. The most straightforward would probably be childhood friends where they've had each other's backs for a long time before Shisui gets swept up in royal court stuff so she asks Hiroe to accompany her. Could also do something where Hiroe is just there as a suitable job for a lady of good breeding but she protects Shisui from some (possibly supernatural?) threat(s), Shisui figures out that Hiroe = Zenko but protects her secret, and that grows trust and respect between them. Obviously the first of those works better for Shisui not knowing her secret yet but having that trust between them already.

I liked s1 a lot, but as far as I can tell that's all Netflix has. My first choice would be to watch s2 first, but since I haven't managed to find it yet and not sure when I will, I'm not really against some spoilers!

Childhood friends could work but because of childhood circumstances re: Shisui, it might be a bit difficult to work out because (season 2 spoilers) Shisui is Loulan, and because of her abusive parents situation, anyone that opposed her mother was banished from the clan and only the syncophants were left, and apart from an extremely small handful of people, Shisui was completely isolated from anyone that might help her. So maybe childhood friends, but Shisui requests Hiroe into her service once she's sent to the Rear Palace after years of not having met? They maybe met a couple of times at meetings when all clan members were there and developed a quick friendship despite the mask that Shisui usually wears as Loulan (aloof and disinterested) since this would be when they are quite young. Another option is Shisui often disguised as a maid when she was younger and continues to do so well into the rear palace and Hiroe is a fellow maid? (The degree of which its a secret that Loulan also works as a maid is not divulged but it's implied this was not at all a well known thing, and again apparently just one or two other ladies in waiting knew this. It could easily be that Hiroe found out Loulan's secret and never told anyone which instantly shot her up in Loulan's trust list and they became friends that way, thus Hiroe knows Shisui = Loulan when they're at the palace but Shisui doesn't know Hiroe's secret.)

Or we could go with the second option which is completely feasible since there is a moment where Shisui is seemingly in danger of being killed by a ghost (whether this was an actual incident or meant to be taken as a one off in KnH is uh, confusing. But it could be used to like construct a similar scenario (a ghost that hates the Shi clan wants to kill their daughter and Hiroe rescues her?). Honestly it depends, which sounds better to you?

Ahhh I get you! I figure Hiroe's family is probably from a neighboring kingdom ~~not!Japan to go with not!China~~ assigned there for diplomacy/trade administration. It would mean they couldn't be just unilaterally banished overnight (at least not without creating an embarrassing diplomatic incident), so Hiroe and Shisui could have had at least some time to form a friendship before Hiroe's family got reassigned to work with someone else. Shisui asking Hiroe to join her years later makes sense, tho! They even could have exchanged letters in secret during that time, so there's already some history of Hiroe being her secret confidant.

And because making choices is my greatest weakness, what if Shisui doesn't know Hiroe's secret but suspects something is up with her after a maybe-supernatural event like that ghost(?) incident? Especially if there's an actually supernatural part and another thing that someone tries to pass off as supernatural, and being close as they are, Shisui picks up on how differently Hiroe reacts to the two outwardly-similar situations (and maybe how protective Zenko is toward her).

Oooh that would definitely work! (And would give Hiroe protections she wouldn't have if she was from the Shi clan which would honestly just make Shisui trust her more). Yeah I'm good with this! I can see Shisui trying to keep contact until that also peters out and then years later comes the request....

Yeah Shisui not knowing but suspecting makes sense as well! She's observant and wary enough that she would be on the lookout, even with her trust. And this way her internal conflict can last longer. (The ghost incident is. weird. Nothing like that happens ever again in KnH but the context is devastating. There's another ghost mystery around Lishu but that's pretty clearly grounded in reality— the one with Shisui is just weird). Honestly you could just use the canonical ghost incident or a very similar type thing (the Shi clan has many enemies. Some could be supernatural. Hazards of being a kinda unpopular yet influential political power) Could definitely be a possible catalyst for the reveal as well. I do think Shisui should find out before the actual Shi clan arc kicks off though, because Shisui knowing would make her do a full 180 on her plans...Hiroe has illusion powers right?

Yeah that makes sense to me, especially if the contact is broken because Shisui gets caught with correspondence and/or it gets too difficult to sneak letters out any more on her end. I'm still gonna keep trying to track down s2 so I can do better matching tone and so on... right now the best I've got is the Mononoke episodes set in a similar Imperial Concubine House scenario. XD

But yeah, Hiroe can produce illusions, among other things... although she needs to let her fox side show through to do it, so she's obviously cautious if it's a "suddenly, powers are unexpectedly needed" situation. If it's planned and/or she can disguise herself in advance, though (e.g. showing up masked as Zenko), she can be pretty flexible with it.

It'll mostly be the latter situation since Shisui is too much of a planner and has like. a gajillion contingencies in place. Mostly just thinking of it because of the reason Shisui is able to dress as a maid in the first place (that is, a couple of maids wear her makeup— if you look at Loulan's entry into the rear palace, you can see that all her ladies in waiting look exactly alike...and that they look a lot like Loulan herself too. And theres another reason but its a spoiler.)

Now that I've seen up through s2e19, I just needed to yell a little about the fox/tanuki comparison brought up around the Scheming Dads, since it's one of my favorite folklore references to lean into with Hiroe. XD Eager to see more about Shenmei besides "absurdly abusive" and how exactly she ties into that.

Also, having seen the harvest festival episode, pondering them having maybe met as children at the shrine, since Hiroe ~~unsurprisingly~~ has a bit of an affinity for fox-affiliated shrines. Especially since foxes + harvest sounds like it's probably based on Inari, and as a Good Fox, default!Zenko is usually a servant/messenger/representative of Inari.

...also, man, now I've gotten more details about the history of the previous emperor, Hiroe'll be quietly bouncing off the walls wishing she could confide fully in Shisui. If only to have someone to vent to about how infuriating humans can be, at once pathetic and grotesque beyond description.

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled, but don't hesitate to poke me if you spot a meme or have an inspiration for another PSL thread with them tho, I'm enjoying them a lot already! <3

GOD YEAH the fox/tanuki themeing and how they interchange with each other surrounding the Shi Clan in particular is Very Good. Harvest festival is a favourite episode with how much it absolutely punches you in the gut on finishing season 2. Also chock full of meaning. And yeah I agree with the shrine idea! It would make sense, though it would probably have to be when Shisui is a bit older than a child because of childhood details you'll see in coming episodes. Probably when she's eleven/twelve or so. Maybe she had to accompany Shenmei at some business in the village and met Hiroe there and they struck up a friendship during that time.

I can say this since this isn't a spoiler ~~because the anime cuts this line out~~ but in the light novels, Shisui does call the former emperor an imbecile so Hiroe would definitely find someone willing to commiserate with her. Hiroe will have a lot to say because trust me, it definitely does get worse! unfortunately!

I'm looking forward to digging into it more!!! My headcanon (and my understanding of the folklore) is that the fox/tanuki dynamic is like a rivalry between fans of fart jokes and dad jokes respectively, with foxes being extra annoyed that tanuki can actually be a match for them, and I'm really curious to see how much of that sort of thing gets played with. I've only seen a little bit of the Shenmei and the Shi patriarch (Shishou, was it? I forget) so I'm not sure what I think of them yet, besides the obvious They're Bad News vibes and suspicions about what exactly they're up to.

Obviously I need to get back to my watching before pondering too much more about backstory things with them... orz But I definitely will circle back to that!

And yeah Hiroe has some very mixed feelings about humans in general, and the previous emperor is like the poster boy for that ambivalence, both a hideous monster and a tragically broken child. ...I'm blanking on the timeline, but I'm wondering if she might have had to take steps to avoid getting his attention, herself, in which case she'd have some personal feelings on the matter, as well.

Another thought--I'm kind of sad we didn't get to see more of Shisui as Loulan. We see her being aloof for a few seconds half a dozen times, but not much more than that, so it's a little hard to gauge how she relates to her ladies-in-waiting. They're obviously in on her deception, but seem to have no idea about her actual intentions, which seems to imply significant loyalty, but the anime at least doesn't really develop that--or at least, it hasn't by the point I'm at right now. Any thoughts or clarification, there, or is that anime spoilers and I need to just shush and watch the next episode? XD

(also I'm not ready for whatever leads to all the Singed-Looking Shisui emotes ;_;)

It was Shishou, yes! The story does a good job of explaining exactly wtf their deal is in a short amount of time imo but there is definitely room for extrapolation. Timeline wise, I would guess not, because iirc Loulan never goes to the palace-- actually Loulan isn't even born until after the emperor dies/is on the verge of death askdjhfskjhsks. Since the emperor dies/is on the verge of death shortly after Suirei was born and Suirei is a good uh three or so years older than Shisui, so unless Hiroe was at the Imperial Palace before meeting Shisui, I doubt either of them would have met the former emperor. Which frankly, thank god.

God right. I also wish we saw more Shisui as Loulan if only because her act is great and sad at the same time. But there is quite a bit of it in the coming episodes! And why she's so singed in my icons. Well. :D

Re: her ladies in waiting that is an excellent point and I have thought so much about it. My final theory is that only a few handful of them i.e. her extremely inner circle knew that Loulan would sneak off to be a maid because they probably knew when she disguised herself at the main Shi house as well. But that's all they knew because Loulan wanted them to have some level of plausible deniability to keep them safe and they had practically no idea of the rebellion beyond maybe a couple of whispers back at the main house, except for maybe one or two. I think that because she had like 50 of them out of necessity and she obviously couldn't have let everyone in on the issue. Considering I believe Renpu didn't know, I think this is the most likely theory. Coin toss on whether that succeeds or not because of the severity of the crime committed by the Shi clan, but I assume she tried her best with how tied her hands were.

...wait, I'm confused. ?_? I thought Lishu was like 14 or 15 in s2, and she'd been sent to the previous emperor (which I might have initially typed as "the pervious emperor" and I blame Hiroe's influence), so I assumed he only died like 5-ish years ago, or even less. I might be getting something mixed up here tho...

I think we're on the same page about Shisui's ladies in waiting, that her closest handful (probably her head lady and her regular 6/7 body doubles) probably had to know about her sneaking around if only so they could be organized in doing whatever she needed for cover, but were probably nearly or totally in the dark otherwise, and the rest I'm assuming were basically another layer of concealment. Since I don't remember any indications of anyone at the Garnet Pavilion taking part in any of the really shady nonsense Suiren and that one physician got up to, I'm inclined to presume they weren't in the loop about any of that at all, and most likely thought their lady's machinations were just limited to being weird and sneaking off to play with bugs.

What I really wonder about are the implications for her relationship to her staff. We see so little of the inside of the Garnet Pavilion absent watchful eyes compared to what we get to see of the others. I imagine they must be pretty exceptionally loyal in their own way if they can work together so seamlessly to take part in what's got to be a legally very risky deceit with no apparent reason besides their lady wanting to. Even if they think it's totally harmless, they seemed to recognize right away how much trouble they might be in, and I assume impersonating an imperial consort with the intention to deceive the emperor must be illegal, since it has so much potential for unauthorized tampering with the royal bloodline, and that's usually at least treason-flavored.

BUT... what kind of loyality is it that unites the Garnet Pavilion in a way none of the others seem to be united? Is it a personal loyalty because they know her as Shisui and she treats them very well? Regional loyalty because they share a Western Region (I forget if they gave a name for it already) attitude toward the capital and/or emperor? opens mouth. closes it. nevermind I think I need to look at the timeline again the ages are confusing me. Lishu is I think 13-14 at the start of the series and Shisui is 17 or nearly seventeen when she debuts (I put her birthday as somewhere in February/March because iirc Maomao was a later months baby though I'll have to recheck and the author has stated that Shisui is the youngest out of Maomao, Suirei and Jinshi. So depending on how the timeline falls she should either be 17 or just turning 17 and I lean towards the latter because of Maomao's age that I'll source later lmao.) Anyway I think its pretty unlikely for Shisui or Hiroe to have met the former emperor either way because around the time Suirei was born, he was already pretty sick and withering and iirc he locked himself away in those years? It's confusing and I'll have to double check lmao.

Great questions all of which are....unfortunately not answered! Shisui's ladies in waiting unfortunately fall into that teensy bit of cracks in an otherwise watertight mystery lmao its a shame really. I think it was both fear of punishment/inability to disobey their masters + some weird kind of loyalty Shisui is capable of inspiring. I think for the ones in the know, its because they've known her since a child and maybe feel pity for something for her? Idk it's up in the air really.

I do remember the prior emperor was already pretty decrepit even many years ago in Jinshi's memory of him, that's right, and at least partially self-isolating. And I think I remember reading that the present emperor arranged to keep Lishu away from him. So it makes sense that while he was probably still alive, and Lishu's father might have intended to give her away to him, he was in no condition for anyone to meet him without really going out of their way.

I'm sure I'll pick up more vibes at least as I keep watching, but yeah that's kinda what I thought. No worries, we can always headcanon our way through! o/

Sofia Sinclair - Taking inspiration from single-player action-adventure video games, I'm looking for Sofia to wander around various places, helping with whatever problems are in that place, and then leaving onto the next destination. She is a wanderer and a legendary figure where she's from, carrying with her a dangerous reputation and a bounty on her head to match. Your characters can know of that reputation, or meet Sofia as a complete stranger. Either option is good with me. Tropes such as found family, fire-forged friends, space battles, heroes being pursued by assassins, and large scaled set-pieces suit her well. A good reference for what sort of tone Sofia is suited for are games like God of War, Devil May Cry, and Doom with the traveling nature of Honkai Star Rail and Wuthering Waves.
Troy Dantes - Taking inspiration strategy and RPG gacha games this time, Troy is better suited as a leader type of character, with an echelon of quirky troops serving under his command. Unlike Sofia, Troy has a good reputation where he's from, and would be the ideal pick for the role of commanding skilled soldiers and saving whatever world we decide to set the story-line in. I'm also interested in Troy also meeting fellow leaders, collaborating and teaming up their troops against a common enemy. A good reference for what sort of tone Troy is suited for are games like Kantai Collection, Azur Lane, Girls Frontline, Nikke, Fate Grand Order, and many similar games. Also taking inspiration from Western sci-fi works like Halo and Pacific Rim.
Ayame Sasaki - Being a retired superhero/supersoldier, Ayame has had her fill of action and feels a little disillusioned by humanity. She prefers to have her just live incognito, live a regular life as a regular person and enjoy the little things, but no matter how much she runs away from it she's still someone with great power and a lot of responsibility. She's also injured and a mess, so she's perfect for some hurt-comfort type deals. Taking inspiration from Yor from Spy x Family, Ayame can hide her superpowers and soldier background from her friends or partner, and we can play it more on the comedic side or play it seriously. She works well in the big scale like Sofia and Troy, or small scale scenarios like Blair and Cole.
Blair Astor - Similar to Sofia but in a much smaller scale, Blair operates in more clandestine, vigilante areas. She leans more towards urban fantasy than a space operatic scale that Sofia does. Superheroes, supernatural entities, spies, and secret organizations are more in line with Blair's line of work, so I'm seeking out anyone who fits that bill and we can hash out details. Shipping sounds like fun with her too; especially more complicated pairing types like her preference for older men, people in positions of power, or morally dubious people.
Cole - She's the most down-to-earth out of all of these characters, and prefers other characters who aren't so out there in power and status. Give her some regular people, street-level supers, androids, or fellow cyborgs. Cole isn't much of a fighter, but she's no pushover when it comes to it either. She's too lazy and selfish to put herself on the line, so she'd much rather text, hang out, and have fun in her downtime. She'd be ideal for helping extraordinary people have an ordinary time, take a break from the craziness of their lives and just live.

OTHER:

I'm fine with taking ideas from both proposed options, mixing and matching, and even combining the two plotlines and having us pit Troy against Sofia. That said, I'm all for chill scenarios too. I enjoy imagining them in settings like the Persona games or Zenless Zone Zero's where the scale of supernatural shenanigans is a lot more relaxed, or in fantasy worlds where their advanced technology would be considered magical. I'm not against shipping or smut for either character, but I prefer to see if the characters have chemistry first before we jump into that, or if we vibe as writers. Thankfully I'm pretty easy on that front, so it won't be hard to get me to ship characters lol. Sofia will be F/F only, with Troy and Blair being OTA with an F/M lean. Cole and Ayame are balanced with regards to genders and are OTA. Send me a message and we can hash things out.

Peter is the once-divorced 30-year-old, Kaminoan-engineered ~~nepo baby~~ son of an Imperial admiral, a former colonel and wing commander in the Starfighter Corps whose charmed(-ish) life and career went off the rails complete with psychiatric discharge after an emergency landing on a remote world led to severe injury and his capture as a POW. Minutes prior to his capture, he encountered a single rebel only to panic in the moment of truth and miss a clean shot—requiring that he finish the man at point-blank range, a vision that now haunts him. Peter survived thanks to a high-profile, televised POW exchange for more valuable Alliance prisoners solely due to who his father is, but he Came Back Wrong: killing an enemy he could see for the first time in his career, and the three days he spent without medical treatment for the excruciating compound fracture of his left wrist, led to the development of severe PTSD that has left him depressed and unstable, his normally warm, even-keeled, reserved disposition now punctuated by unpredictable emotional outbursts and panic attacks. Following his release from a lengthy hospital stay for septic shock and a lifesaving amputation of the hand and forearm, Peter was declared unfit to serve on psychiatric grounds and discharged, rendering him a disgrace and embarrassment to his father in a fascist, hypermilitaristic society: he immediately surrendered and was captured alive, he developed PTSD from a single kill at the rank of colonel, and he ultimately failed in the line of duty even despite being genetically engineered to excel. Now he's just attempting to reassemble his life and process the loss of a limb, all while trying to figure out where he fits into a society that has no place for him. Info + notes on his prosthesis.

Honestly, I'm open to most things with this guy as I've just started writing him and am still getting a feel for the character - mostly just looking to get some juicy threads going! I'm open to crosscanon/star wars AUs, happy to transplant him into the Trek universe, and can also write him in a modern-ish (mid 2000s-early 2010s) timeframe having come out of a similar situation in the Iraq War.

Some potential plotlines (not exhaustive): weirdly tense coworker relationships with other Imperials who don't have the kind of privilege he grew up with (pre-capture), deciding he can't take it any more and defecting to the alliance (or trying to convince someone to help him do so despite most people having seen his state portrait on the news), making friends in the hospital/physical rehab facility, combat situations with members of the same squadron pre-capture, ending up prisoner to characters other than those who originally captured him and trying to bargain for his life, making friends in some sort of PTSD group therapy situation (works particularly well for modern AU). In a situation in which he defects, I'd love to play with the idea of trust being a massive issue—he still has a very much alive father who is a part of the Empire's war machine and shares culpability in millions of deaths, and he's very attached to friends in his former squadron who are now enemies he is being called upon to help the Alliance kill.

I'd particularly love to thread him against any of the X-wing guys given that he's probably able to recognize that they're more skilled than he is, especially if it's after he's defected - it would be difficult for him because even though these are now his allies, they may have been directly responsible for the deaths of some of his friends who were KIA—and they could say the same of Peter. Because of his PTSD, flying and combat is permanently off the table for him, but I can see him shifting into a role of like, flight mechanic or consulting on tactics because of the sheer volume of inside information he has on the enemy.

preferences/notes:

I really strongly prefer action brackets over prose; I'm not opposed to threading against players who can only write in prose, but it's much easier for me if I can still reply with action brackets. Present tense, third-person only please.

I love shipping, but it would have to be very slowburn for him because of his issues; smut without a lot of relationship buildup is a no for this character because of his sexual dysfunction and apprehension around physical intimacy. Peter is bisexual and attracted to near-humans (ex: Mirialans, Twi'leks) as well as within his own species.
